Apple Pie To Die For!

Yep, that's the real name of this fab pie!

I shared this with a friend today...and hey I guess I should share it with you all as well!


Get ready to wow your friends and make their bellies glow!
Prep Time: 1 hour


Cooking Time 1 hr. 15 min. to 1 1/2 hrs.




1 Prepared 9" pie crust (use your favorite one)


Caramel Streusel Topping

8 Tbs. butter (semi-melted)

1 1/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour

1/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

1/2 toffee bits


Filling

2 1/2 lbs. Granny Smith or Golden Delicious apples (7-8 apples)

3/4 cup toffee bits

1/3 sugar

1 Tbs. cornstarch

1/8 tsp. salt

2 Tbs. butter


1. Preheat oven to 400.


2. Mix butter, flour, sugar, and toffee bits in a bowl. Form into two balls and refrigerate.


3. Peel, core and slice apples. Combine apples with toffee bits, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Pour filling into pie crust and dot with butter. Break streusel topping over the top of apples.


4. Bake 20-30 minutes until top is golden and toasty looking. Loosely cover pie with foil with a quarter size hole in the middle. Bake 1 hour until bubbly.
